US President Donald Trump claimed Israel’s Sunday attack on Beirut “should not have happened,” especially at a time where a deal is supposedly very close with Iran. Trump falsely claimed the strike caused no deaths or injuries, saying the attack was ‘small and meaningless.’ Meanwhile, Lebanese authorities reported at least three people killed and several wounded.
Recently, Trump stated he ‘called the shots’ when it came to Israel, leading many to believe the US greenlit the Israeli attack on Sunday in a way to add increased pressure on Iran for more concessions during the negotiations. Particularly, to separate the Lebanese file from Iran.
Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned there is “no point” in continuing efforts to reach a deal with Washington if Tel Aviv remains unrestrained.
