The Congolese FA (FECOFA) held an emergency video call with FIFA to discuss the impact of the Ebola epidemic on the Léopards squad, staff, and fans travelling to the 2026 World Cup.
Key points:
FECOFA told FIFA all measures have been taken to protect players from Ebola exposure, in line with US health protocols
Most players and staff are based in Europe, so FECOFA says contamination risk is low.
⚠️Technical staff left Kinshasa on 20 May 2026 and will spend at least 21 days in Europe before travelling to the USA.
✅ Both FECOFA and FIFA concluded the delegation is compliant with US health requirements.
💰 FECOFA also raised the issue of Congolese fans who bought World Cup tickets but can’t get US visas. FIFA agreed to examine a potential refund process.
