Mtibwa Sugar Football Club was established in 1988 by a group of employees from Mtibwa Sugar Estates Ltd., who sought to create a football team that could compete in local league competitions. The club began its journey in the 4th division of Tanzanian football in 1989, marking the start of its competitive endeavors.
Promotion to Higher Divisions
The teamβs performance improved over the years, leading to their promotion to the first division in 1996. This advancement was significant as it allowed the club to compete at a higher level within Tanzanian football.
Transition to Premier League
In 1998, Tanzanian football underwent a restructuring process that resulted in the formation of the Premier League. Mtibwa Sugar F.C. was among the clubs that transitioned into this new league format, which elevated their status and competition level.
