Foundation and Early Years (2010-2022)
Fountain Gate FC, originally founded as Diamond Trust Bank Football Club (DTB FC) in 2010, was established by employees of the Diamond Trust Bank in Tanzania. The club quickly gained recognition through its participation in various bank-sponsored tournaments across the country, which led to increased investment from the bankβs leadership. This support allowed DTB FC to compete in the First Division League, marking its entry into more competitive football.
As the team developed, it became a platform for local talent and began attracting attention due to its performance. In 2022, after achieving promotion to the Tanzanian Premier League, DTB Bank decided to discontinue its ownership of the club to refocus on its core banking operations. This transition opened up opportunities for stakeholders from the Singida region to acquire the team.
Name Changes and Rebranding (2022-2024)
Following the change in ownership, DTB FC underwent a significant rebranding process. In 2022, the club changed its name to Singida Big Stars FC, aligning itself more closely with regional identity and aspirations similar to other local clubs like Singida United. Under this new name, Singida Big Stars competed in the Tanzanian Premier League during the 2022β2023 season and performed admirably by finishing fourth in their debut season. This strong performance also qualified them for participation in the 2023β24 CAF Confederation Cup.

In mid-2023, after a successful season and with ambitions for further growth, Fountain Gate Academy expressed interest in acquiring Singida Big Stars FC. Following this acquisition, a merger occurred between Singida Big Stars and Fountain Gate Academy, leading to yet another name change; thus, the club became known as Singida Fountain Gate FC in 2024.
Current Status and Management
As of now, Singida Fountain Gate FC competes in the NBC Premier League and has established itself as a competitive force within Tanzanian football. The management structure has evolved over time; Muhibu Kanu served as CEO during its inaugural top-flight season before being succeeded by Olebile Sikwane in June 2023. The club is supported by sponsorship from SportPesa and continues to focus on enhancing its infrastructure and player recruitment strategies.
The teamβs home ground is Liti Stadium (formerly Namfua), located in Singida region, which they adopted after relocating from Dar es Salaam where they initially played at Uhuru Stadium during their time as DTB FC.
Overall, Fountain Gate FC has undergone significant transformations since its inception but remains committed to developing local talent while competing at higher levels within Tanzanian football.
